In this 64 hour, online CAD training course students will learn to work with constructs, elements, views, and sheets within the AutoCAD Architecture Drawing Management system. Students will generate floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, sections, elevations, schedules and details, as well as 3D views of a four-story, 72,000 square foot, commercial building model.
The course begins with an examination of AutoCAD Architecture Drawing Management concepts and an overview of the Project Browser and Project Navigator. Students will setup the structure for their main Commercial Building project and start laying out the initial constructs, elements, views, and sheets.
The main level two project is a model of a four storey, 72,000 square foot commercial building. Students will commence this building with an exploration of the Drawing Management system including Project Setup with the Project Browser and drawing navigation with the Project Navigator. After laying out the structure of the project, students will begin to lay out the structure of the actual building, developing a column grid and adding structural elements to create the skeleton of the building. Core constructs with stair towers and elevators will be developed next and students will learn to work with custom Door Window Assemblies before moving on to Curtain Walls to add a storefront entrance and curved curtain facade to the project. Interior space planning tools will be explored as students develop the interior floor plans and add ceiling grids for reflected ceiling plans.
The final phase of the Commercial project will concentrate on documentation tools and students will learn to create door and window schedules, room finish schedules, callout views, detailing tools, and keynoting techniques.
